Company Dossier

Company deep dive analysis, with evidence you can inspect

A company deep dive is a structured review of one company: how it competes, what protects it, where it can grow and what could undo it. Dexil builds one on any company, public or private, and links its findings to the sources it found, so you can inspect the evidence.

What a company deep dive is

A company deep dive reviews one company and the market around it: how it makes money, where it wins, where it may be weak and where its strategy is heading. A company profile lists facts. A deep dive reaches a view: what the facts mean, what protects the company, what could happen next, and the evidence behind the findings so you can defend or challenge it.

When it helps

You need one when you are about to compete with, buy, back, partner with or sell to a company and have to know where it really stands. An executive is sizing up a competitor or a market. A corporate development team is screening acquisitions. A private equity or venture investor is underwriting a target. A strategy team is building a view on a company.

What you can do with it

Dexil's Company Dossier produces the analysis described on this page; pick it from the module list when you start. It is built around the questions you have to answer:

  • Who does it really compete with, and where is the pressure coming from?
  • What genuinely protects it, and what only looks protective?
  • Where can it grow, and what could undo it?
  • How could it play out? Four possible futures, each with the signals to watch and the metric that tells you which one is happening
  • What does each finding mean for you, and what should you do about it?
  • Is the evidence sound? Findings link to the sources found, with a visible note where the support is incomplete

Public and private companies

Name any company, listed or private. For a listed company its filings are among the sources. What is public about a private company varies and can be thin, so the report draws on whatever public sources exist and on the context you give it. The evidence available sets how much it can say, and the report shows where support is incomplete.

Questions

What is a company deep dive?
A structured review of one company and its market: who it competes with, what protects it, where it can grow, what could go wrong and how it could play out, with the evidence in view.
Does it work on private companies?
Yes. Name any public or private company. What is public about a private company varies and can be thin, so the report relies on whatever public sources exist and the context you give it, and the evidence it finds decides how much it can say.
Where does the evidence come from?
Dexil researches across public sources, including filings for listed companies, starting from the company and the context you give it. The report links its findings to the sources it found and marks where the support is incomplete, so you can check the evidence yourself.
Can I read a real one before I sign up?
You can read the Accenture analysis on this page with no account: seven findings, each with its source, summarised from the full report. The full report needs a free account.
Is it investment advice?
No. It is an analysis to read, test and think with, not investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell. The analysis is produced by AI, which is why it shows its evidence and flags where support is incomplete. Read the AI Disclaimer for detail.
